Mondays then...Mondays now

Do you hate Mondays?

Looking back a few years, I remember just how much I hated Monday's. It was so bad, that around noon on Sunday, I would already begin to dread the coming work week. I would become grouchy and frustrated, wanting so bad to break free from my day job.

I love technology and wanted to switch to a career that would allow me to utilize that passion. I worked hard to network with like-minded techies and begin to build relationships. It was important to me to be genuine, offering feedback and engaging with people in things that were important to them.

I am extremely blessed to now have a great job that I love! I look forward to Monday mornings, diving into my work and connecting with my team! I can honestly say that I love my job and Mondays are no longer a source of despair. Expanding my social network, helping people and sharpening my tech skills daily all led to landing the job that I love.

If you want to begin to expand your social circle, it is important to take the time needed to read posts or review projects of the people with whom you are trying to connect with. Offer to help proof read, review or test things that may help the other person. It will take time, so don't get discouraged. Identify people who do great things in the industry you want to break into. Learn what types of projects they are working on, see what they are writing about. Then, engage with them in detail, so they see that you are genuinely interested in what they are doing. Offer to help people when possible. There is a great quote I like.

You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want. -Zig Ziglar
